Book review: The Queen's Rising by Rebecca Ross

It's been a year since I saw this book was going to be published and I liked the cover immediately. I'm not going to lie about that. Fortunately, I had the chance to have a review copy for myself since the Argetinian publisher, Puck Latinoamérica, was kind enough to give me one.
It took me almost a month to make it through to the end, but not because it was bad, but because I was in the middle of a terrible reading slump.
I didn't know exactly what the book was about at first, but I went in anyway, knowing I might enjoy it either way. Most people had recommended it to me, so why not give it a go now?
Since the beginning, the pacing is fast and I remember flipping page after page, because it was THAT interesting. There's something in the main character, Brienna, that just hooks you. Her thoughts and the questions she asks herself are truly an adventure to go through.
I really like where the story heads from start to finish. We don't have a typical girl who was chosen to do a certain thing, she's not the one who's going to become something bigger for the people.
She's going to help them.
I mostly liked this book because of how many times I heard the author talking about it. It's so inspiring to see how she wrote the story and how it burned inside her, so much she wrote in a little more than a month.
I totally understand that feeling. The feeling of knowing the story you're creating is good and it's going to be something big.
Overall, I think the book was very good. I feel like the ending was a little rushed, but that doesn't disappoint me in the least. I'm actually curious to know what's going to happen in The Queen's Resistance and I can't wait to see more of Brienna and crew.

I totally recommend you this book if you love fantasy, history and romance. Along with the fact that this is the perfect book to curl up in bed with on a stormy day with a cup of tea.

Reseña de La Rebelión de la Reina - Rebecca Ross

Desde que supe de la publicación de este libro por parte de Harper Teen el enero pasado, tuve muchas ganas de leerlo y, finalmente, gracias a Puck Latinoamerica, pude hacerlo. 

Obvio que a veces prefiero leerlos en inglés, pero se me dio la oportunidad de reseñarlo para ellos y me encanto la idea. 

No tenía muy claro de qué trataba el libro exactamente, solo sabía lo que la autora contaba en su Instagram y piezas aquí y allá que la gente decía, pero casi todos los recomendaban, incluso una amiga mía, así que el entusiasmo era real. 

Desde el principio el ritmo de la historia es rápido y pasas las páginas como nada, porque los personajes son muy interesantes y Brienna en sí, nuestra protagonista, es muy real y también tiene algo que nos llama a ser parte de sus pensamientos y sus preguntas internas. 

Me gustó mucho el concepto de la historia, sobre ella intentando ayudar a la Rebelión para hacer que la reina legítima llegue al trono, porque es diferente y un poco más fresco ver que la protagonista no es la que es "la elegida" o algo parecido. 

Siempre recuerdo que la autora decía que escribió el libro en 45 días, diciendo que no podía parar hasta terminarlo, además de que un fuego quemaba su interior, diciéndole que la termine porque era algo especial.

Concuerdo totalmente. 

Hasta la mitad del libro fui muy bien y después entré en un lapso donde no podía leer, por eso me costó un poco más, pero supongo que no van a tener problema, ya  que es cierto que a pesar de tener algunas pequeñas trabas, la historia sigue teniendo el mismo ritmo que al principio.

Eso sí, al final sentí como que las cosas se solucionaron rápido, y eso se me hace sospechoso y para nada desalentador. Por eso tengo muchas ganas de saber lo que va a pasar en The Queen's Resistance, que sale dentro de unos meses, creo, en inglés. 

En fin, esta fue mi primer lectura del 2019 y no me decepcionó para nada, incluso con las enormes expectativas que le tenía. 

Lo súper recomiendo si les gusta la fantasía, el romance y la historia. Todo el aire que te da el libro es como estar en un biblioteca leyendo tomos viejos acompañada del sonido de la lluvia. Eso es todo lo que tengo que decir.
